Friday Faves – Edition 2

Lifestyle

Do you ever have those weeks, where once it’s all over, you ask yourself, “where did the week go?” Typically that’s how I feel when I have a crazy busy schedule. But for some reason, even with a lighter schedule this week, the week just seemed to fly by. And before I knew it, Friday was already here.

With having a lighter schedule, I was able to get a few things done around the house that I’ve been meaning to do for some time, and also squeeze in some time for my favorite hobbies. I started the week by writing down a list of tasks that needed to be done around the house and have been slowly crossing them off all week. And while not many of us enjoy a task like cleaning out our closets, it feels pretty awesome to be able to check it off the list.

Even with my random to-do list keeping me busy, I definitely made some time to squeeze in a few of my favorite activities during the week. Check out the list below for my Friday Faves this week!

Morning Walks with Jordy

Normally, Jordy and I will spend our mornings at the park or in our backyard playing fetch to get him some exercise. This is mostly because I have never met another dog who loves to fetch as much as Jordy. If we are sitting outside with him, he will continue to put all of his toys in our laps until we finally give in and agree to throw one for him.

Recently, we have been spending our mornings going for a walk together. With our little one on the way, I know we will be taking more walks as a group of 3, so I’ve been wanting to spend some special time with just my pup. I love the mornings in our city, it’s so much quieter. This makes for great quality time for the two of us out walking.

I think even Jordy has started getting more excited about our morning walks together. He now knows that as soon as I put my contacts in that, it’s our time to go out. He will sprint down the stairs to go wait for me by the door. He’s just way too cute sometimes.

We still find plenty of time to play fetch during the week. But I wouldn’t trade our special time in the morning for anything.

dreft laundry detergent

I know, who says that one of their favorite things for the week would be laundry detergent. But I’ve started washing a lot of the clothes and blankets for our new baby to prep the nursery, and the way they come out smelling is intoxicating.

There’s something about the new baby smell that is so sweet, and I feel like the Dreft detergent is such a part of that smell. Every time I do a load a baby laundry, I get even more excited about the arrival of our little one!

Pregnancy Journal

Even though Texas is beginning to open back up from our coronavirus shelter in place, my husband and I have still been staying home. We are being a little extra cautious to protect both myself and the baby, but also to try and keep our birth plan in place. We know there’s a lot that can still happen in the meantime, but we want to do our part to make sure we can both be present for our baby’s birth.

With the extra time staying at home, I’ve been able to do some catch up in writing in my pregnancy journal. I ended up buying this off of a recommendation from a friend, and I am so glad I did! It’s a great way to remember some of the smaller things that happen during pregnancy that you may want to share with your baby someday as they grow older.

For me, when I visited my parents last, they shared with me, my mom’s baby book and pregnancy journal from when I was born. It was really neat to be able to look back through my parents’ memories and be able to share this moment with them, especially being pregnant with my first baby.

Plastic Kiddie Pool

Texas summers get hot. And we had our first taste of the warmer temperatures over the past couple of weeks. To help keep Jordy cool in the backyard after some playtime, we bought one of the plastic kiddie pools. And, let’s just say, it hasn’t only been Jordy who has been in the pool.

After a workout, it has been quite refreshing to go sit in the tiny pool that’s been filled with cool water. But it’s even more fun to watch Jordy splash around in the water. For something so simple, it has been an absolute blast for our family!

What’s been some of your favorite things from this week. Let me know in the comment section below!
